The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a book about a part in North America referred to as “Panem” which is split into 12 districts and all districts are run by the Capital. The Capital started a game called “The Hunger Games” where in which all districts had to take part. This game was about survival and who could do it best. Katniss Everdeen, who is the main character, is chosen from her district along with Peeta, who used to work at the bakery. They are then sent to the Capital to prepare for the game. Katniss and Peeta start the game in a bad head space with one another. When the game starts Katniss disappears into the woods and is split away from Peeta. Katniss later discovers that Peeta is on an opposing team and is playing against her. However, Katniss makes a friend and is no longer alone. The two groups later meet and Peeta decides to help Katniss instead of fighting against her. Katniss’s friend, Ru, got killed during the duration of the game and Katniss is forced to team back up with Peeta. The Capital then makes a new rule that 2 tributes can win the game, however, they must be from the same district. So, Katniss and Peeta decide to win the game together. After being the only 2 left in the game. The Capital changes the rule back to 1 winner only. Katniss and Peeta then threaten the Capital that either they both win or they die together (suicide). The Capital then decides that both tributes would win. After they had returned home, Peeta realizes that the relationship that Katniss has built with him in the game was all a joke and a con to get the capital to save them both.
