Ways to minimise these risks is to have a risk assessment in place for journeys and all staff to have read and acknowledge them. All staff to be first aid trained and has a mobile phone with them in case of emergencies. Staff to have emergency contact information. All individuals have a mini first aid kit in their bags for outings. If the van broke down, when you call them you need to mention that you are with a vulnerable adult and they will usually make you priority. If using public transport always have an alternative route that can be used in emergencies.
