Motivation and rewards were chosen as our topic for this assignment. For any organization or even industry, motivation and rewards are very important. Motivation is a behaviour that cannot be created but can be influenced while rewards are something employees have earned by doing a good job (Thomas, 2009).
The company that selected on this assignment was AirAsia. Air Asia was set up by Dato Tony Fernandes in 2001. AirAsia has been growing rapidly since 2001 as one of the award- winning and largest low- fare airlines in Asia. AirAsia do achieve the motivation and rewards in their company successful. AirAsia is an economical airline business which had become more preferably and more popular around the world. AirAsia was established in 1993 and began its business in 1996 (Air Spotting Blog, 2016). This company is founded by the state- owned corporation. AirAsia is the largest company that introduces low- cost travel pioneers and the largest low- cost in Asia and has its slogan “Now Everyone Can Fly.”
For other airline companies, AirAsia is a successful example. It was transformed into an unthinkable concept for the airline industry to succeed. This success can be proven to be profitable from a money- losing task. Although Air Asia introduces no- frills service to its customers and uses second- hand aircraft, it would still be a threat to other Asian airlines (Airasia Company Report, 2015). AirAsia has a very good consumer performance by offering low fares, a majority on- time flight record and by maintaining high productivity and work ethics.
Based on information in the Indonesia Straits Times, it was stated that Malaysian Airline formed an alliance with Air Asia in August 2011, but the agreement between the two airlines was annulled because the alliance was struck by the Malaysian government. (Leslie Lopez, 2011) AirAsia is now a successful airline that grows from 2 aircraft to 80 aircraft and from 200 000 passengers to more than 75 million passengers in seven years. It’s a visible achievement that we see year by year. (AirAsia Berhad, 2016).
