Introduction Los Angeles International Airport is one of the prominent and busiest airports in the USA

Introduction
Los Angeles International Airport is one of the prominent and busiest airports in the USA. It caters to the transportation needs of passengers and it plays a crucial role in serving as a hub for Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines and, United Airlines. Its activities are limited to metropolitan areas.
History
With the commencement of operation in the year 1928, Los Angeles International Airport started to gain fame at a global level for efficient aviation service effectiveness. In 1946, commercial airline service was established at the airport and after 15 years, a terminal complex was built along with control tower (Airport Technology, 2018). In the year 1980, international and domestic terminals are constructed along with roadways.
Size
Los Angeles International Airport covers 3,500 acres. In the year 2017, over 84,550,000 passengers were handled by the authority of Los Angeles International Airport.
Location
Los Angeles International Airport is situated at Los Angeles City of California State of the United States of America. It is located in the southern part of Westchester district of Los Angeles of California.
Number of Runways
At Los Angeles International Airport, overall four runways are existent. In the northern part of airport terminals, which is known as the North Airfield Complex, two runways are existent, such as 24R/06L and 24L/06R. On the other hand, 25R/07L and 25L/07R runways are existent on the South Airfield complex, which was situated at airport terminals’ southern part. In airport terminal areas, runway status lights are operated as warning lights and they give clearance to air traffic signal control before pilots take off their planes (Federal Aviation Administration, 2018). Airport authority embraced preferential runway use policy for ensuring the minimization of noises. 24L/06R and 25R/07L runways have proximity to central terminal areas and they are used for departures. These runways are known as inboard runways. On the other hand, 24R/06L and 25L/07R are known as outboard runways. They are used for the arrivals of planes operated by pilots.
Operation
Los Angeles International Airport commenced its operations in the year 1928. The public entity is operated under Los Angeles World Airports, which is regarded as the airport operations department situated at Los Angeles. In the year 2017, it performed over 700 aircraft operations. Westerly operations’ plan was adopted by the airport for enabling aircrafts in taking off to the west and arriving from the east. Similarly, Easterly operations plan is implemented so that aircrafts are enabled to take off to the east and arrive at the west. At the time over-ocean operations inboard runways are used for arrivals and departures. There are overall eight terminals, which are situated at Los Angeles International Airport. In addition to these, cargo operations are performed at the airport through preparing shipments of cargo, loading and unloading of aircrafts. In addition, cargoes are transferred between land transport and storage facilities.
Restrictions
Los Angeles International Airport has hammered out details with regards to different restrictions. These restrictions are manifested in rules and regulations framed by Los Angeles International Airport. In section 4 of LAX rules and regulations, restrictions are imposed on various activities, such as the formation of takeoffs and landings, use of motor-less aircraft, tampering with aircrafts, stating engine of aircrafts without being granted with owners’ permissions. In section 5 of LAX rules and regulations, restrictions were imposed upon storage of equipment, transportation of baggage, smoking and others. In addition, employees are strictly prohibited to sleep and eat in gate hold rooms and lounge areas. In section 7, strictness was maintained in consolidating security system and mechanisms. In addition, trespassing was prohibited in the Air Operations Area and Security Identification Display Area. In section 8 of LAX rules and regulations, the emphasis is given for periodical inspection of buildings, premises and structures along with fire prevention and regulated handling of hazardous elements and transportation of explosives. In section 6, strict rules and regulations were imposed upon certain aspects of cargo operations, such as parking aircraft on public parking spots for more than 24 hours, storing cargo beyond lease limit and others (Loss Angeles World Airports, 2018).
Environmental Factors
Keeping in view environmental factors, the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners embraced sustainability vision and principled policy. There are various aspects in regards to environmental issues in the airport, such as safety, security, transparency, environmental friendliness and others. Lessening the impact of environmental factors on operations is the priority for Los Angeles World Airports along with green building standards. Increasing noise pollution is also regarded as an environmental factor and for dealing with this issue, Aircraft Noise and Operations Monitoring Systems were adopted along with state-of-the-art technology.
Conclusion
Because of effective emphasis upon airfield and cargo operations, the airport has been able to augment its operational efficiency. In the process of increasing operational efficiency, the airport has applied technology. Many passengers from different countries use this airport for acquiring aviation transportation services.
