I chose to discuss a juvenile program called Aggression Replacement Training (ART). This program focuses on the development of an individual’s ability to address multiple emotional and social aspects that contributes to the aggressive behavior in youths. The Crime Solutions webpage describes the program’s techniques are specifically designed to teach youths how to control their anger impulses and take perspectives other than their own. These techniques are used in hope to prevent youths from acting towards aggressive actions and deviant behavior. The main goal of the Aggression Replacement Training program is to reduce aggression and violent behaviors among youths. It provides them with the opportunities to learn prosocial skills in place of the aggressive behavior that will eventually lead to deviant behavior.
