Advertising is the audio or visual form of marketing communication that employs an openly sponsored, non-personal message to promote or sell a product, service or idea. This form of communication can be used in a both positive a negative way. Positive being the fact that advertisements are created with the sole intention of informing the consumers about the product or service and increase the trust and loyalty on the service or the product, whereas by negative it means giving misleading or false information, just to increase the consumer base and earn profit in the immediate future with chances of causing less or a lot of harm to the consumer. This research project focuses on analysing misleading advertisements, how it affects the consumers, measures taken by the Government and whether the consumers are aware of the measures taken by the Government and the laws established by it. This project also aims at bringing awareness to this situation and elucidate on what can be done the consumers to protect themselves.
